Cosmetotextile products will be very normal in market in the near future

One indication that cosmetotextiles are gaining marketing traction is the Interfeliére Cosmetic Textiles tradeshow, which took place in Paris in July 2012. Dozens of cosmetotextiles companies were represented, from clothing lines to companies providing the technologies that make these fabrics work as beauty products.

Laurence Nérée, exhibition manager for Interfeliére Paris, describes this sector as one that has been poorly defined to date, but includes cosmetic textiles, technical fibers, and innovative textile structures, such as shape wear. Nérée adds that cosmetic textiles are defined as products that contain a substance or a preparation that is intended to be released sustainably…on the skin, and claim one or more properties, including wrinkle reduction, reduction of body odor, or enhanced body odor through perfume.”

Eye masks, gloves, sportswear, stockings, leggings, and underwear are examples of cosmetotextiles products currently on the market. Cosmetotextiles are also being found in the spa and home goods sections of stores with neck wraps and blankets.

The cosmetotextiles category includes slimming garments, skin care garments, and garments with anti-odor, vitamin, aromatherapy, sunscreen, and even insect-repelling properties.
